The severity of Gaza’s crisis surpasses even the devastating 2011 Somali famine, where 490,000 people faced “catastrophe” conditions. While Gaza may not be the largest or longest-running food crisis in the world, it stands out as the most severe in recent decades. Experts warn of a potential for excess deaths reaching the tens of thousands in the coming months.
Beyond Food Shortages: A Spiraling Crisis
The lack of basic infrastructure, particularly water and sanitation, further exacerbates the situation.
